THE PEORIA PLAGUE HALLOWEEN BROADCAST

I just discovered this radio aircheck gem. It is a War of the Worlds-style Halloween drama produced on an easy listening radio station in Peoria, Illinois in 1972. It revolves around a plague that is turning people into flesh-eating ghouls, like in Night of the Living Dead. It uses the actually news staff as in roles. I can't find any online articles about the reaction in Peoria to this. It is kind of unnerving.

The Walls Keep Talking (1941) – Vintage Halloween Music

I've been hoping to find this on YouTube. I put The Gene Krupa Orchestra with Anita O'Day's vocal on the final Halloween music podcast from last year. This old movie short, which looks kind of like a music video was my introduction to that song. It is not the original Gene Krupa/Anita O'Day recording. I wish I knew who it was. Also wish I knew who the actors were portraying the young couple. The guy looks familiar.

WARNING: THIS COULD BE CONSIDERED POLITICALLY INCORRECT.

SIGOURNEY WEAVER AND HER PUMPKIN

Last year I posted Halloween pinup photos of Ann Miller and Morgan Fairchild (two post with Morgan). Now I present the Halloween related, celebrity, photos that are quickly becoming the next big thing on the Internet. They are not sexy pinups like Ann Miller & Morgan Fairchild made. These are candid snapshots of Sigourney Weaver and a large pumpkin. They are circulating around on Twitter, tumblr, Facebook and Readit. By the way she is dressed, they were taken in the early 80s. As I said, they are not purposely sexy, but they are incredibly cute. Not sure who took them or why, but people are enjoying them. If you remember Sigourney Weaver was one of the inspirations for the tackiest post I ever made. Speaking of that post, the other inspiration for it was my college roommate, Cedric Boyd. He has written two novels, The Good Wolf and Randall Whitmore: The Good Wolf Part 2, which are available on Amazon.

THE MUSIC OF OCTOBER COUNTRY

October Country was a sunshine pop group of the late 60s. I once erroneously said on this blog that the liner notes of the only LP were by Ray Bradbury. I found some copies of the LP on line and Bradbury is nowhere to be found. I'm not sure what I saw, where Bradbury gave an endorsement to a 60s band, named after one of his books. I'll keep digging.

They do have a connection to another sci-fi/horror master. After they recorded their first LP, they scored a short film called Amblin. Ever hear of Amblin Entertainment? That film was written and directed by a young Steven Spielberg. Enjoy two of their most famous songs.

The New Adventures of Desdinova the Super Villain of the Ozarks: HALLOWEEN MUSIC PODCAST RECAP

COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN 2016

It is time again for the Countdown to Halloween. I enjoy this because I get a great amount of traffic to this blog, but also because I get to write about monster movies and horror related music. Enjoy and leave a comment to let me know you visited.

I found this cool horror movie collage on Tumblr. If I found out whop posted it, I'll give them credit. I'll have to go back and look.
